The Winners of the 2024 Bahamas Travel and Sustainability Awards

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 22, 2024

There are 700 islands and cays in The Bahamas, covering a surface of area of nearly 5,400 square miles. It is its own world, a travel destination unlike any other in the Caribbean — or the world, for that matter.

With our second annual Bahamas Travel and Sustainability Awards, we sought to highlight the overwhelming diversity of this destination — celebrating the people, places and projects that make The Bahamas unique and unforgettable.

That includes the country’s best places to stay, from luxury resorts to remote fishing lodges; its best places to eat and drink; and the leaders who help ensure a flawless experience.

This year’s Awards garnered some 30,000 votes, with travelers from around the world choosing the Best of The Bahamas: from the best taxi driver to the greatest people-to-people experience to the leaders in sustainability, from coral restoration to community tourism.

“There is no tourism without sustainability,” said Alexander Britell, editor and publisher of  Caribbean Journal. “We are proud to highlight both pillars in this year’s awards, sending a message to the world about the depth, richness and commitment to sustainability in the world-renowned tourism destination of The Bahamas.”
